AKSHAYEE SHETTY
The Flame Starter (Founder, Curriculum & Research)
To grow up unseen is to know how deeply education can wound when it fails to meet the child. From this lived truth, Akshayee founded Sense Kaleidoscopes: not as another school, but as a sanctuary where the learner is not moulded but allowed to unfold. Trained in art and education at the University of Glasgow, she has woven together Krishnamurti’s call for freedom of thought with Reggio Emilia’s respect for the child’s voice. Under her direction, SK has built a curriculum unlike any other in India—an integrated pathway of academics, arts, technology, and life skills, where modules are not borrowed from mainstream schools but born from the realities of autistic children. Each program is tested, reflected upon, and reshaped with sensitivity, ensuring it is alive to the learner. For Akshayee, education is neither conformity nor therapy, but the flowering of intelligence, dignity, and creativity in community.
ANAND ANANTHASWAMY
The Logic Keeper (Trustee, Numbers, Systems & Magic)
Numbers, when seen only as accounts, are lifeless. But in Anand’s hands, they become instruments of balance. He carries responsibility for finance, administration, and fairness within the community, yet his work is not stewardship alone. Alongside Akshayee, he guides the expansion of SK’s one-of-its-kind curriculum into NeuroZing, an ed-tech platform designed to carry autism-specific learning models into homes and schools across India. Anand sees systems not as cages but as scaffolds—structures that support growth while never replacing freedom. His role ensures that SK’s unique modules—those that cultivate executive functioning, social-emotional balance, creativity, and independence—are not confined to one campus, but offered to a wider world. He embodies the principle that true order is not control, but clarity. His presence at SK is the steady hand that allows vision to move outward, ensuring that inclusion grows from idea to lived reality.
UMA V. AGADI
The Color Weaver (Trustee, Art, Curation & Aesthetic Justice)
Art, when taught as technique alone, is shallow. But when lived as inquiry, it becomes a way of awakening. Uma, a painter and curator trained at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, has apprenticed for years under Akshayee, learning to design and refine art curricula that do not stand apart from life but flow through it. At SK, she curates more than exhibitions—she curates the very process of learning. Each module she builds is tested with children, reshaped in response, and returned to the studio with greater sensitivity. This cycle of creation, reflection, and renewal ensures that SK’s art programs remain alive, not mechanical. Under Uma’s guidance, the art department becomes a living studio where students engage with the visual arts, folk arts, printmaking, culinary arts, farming practices, theatre, pottery, sculpture, installation, digital art, and design—not as subjects to be mastered, but as pathways that reflect and expand their own creativity. She carries forward the Reggio belief that the environment is the third teacher, and the Krishnamurtian call to keep intelligence unconditioned and free.
NIRANJANA P. RAJ
The Quiet Architect (Trustee, The Builder of Brave Classrooms)
Academics, when reduced to marks, shrink the mind. Niranjana, a Chartered Accountant who turned to education, carries into SK the conviction that knowledge must free, not burden. She leads the academic school, designing curricula for primary and secondary learners that India’s mainstream systems have failed to imagine. With Akshayee’s mentorship, she develops autism-specific modules that address executive functioning, independence, critical thinking, and emotional regulation—skills absent in conventional classrooms. Her work is iterative: she builds, observes with students, reflects, and refines, ensuring each lesson is alive to the learner. At the same time, she supports finance and fundraising, anchoring the school’s sustainability. Niranjana’s vision is of an academic pathway that does not leave children in regression or despair but allows them to grow into thinkers, creators, and citizens. She reminds the community that education is not preparation for life—it is life unfolding in the present.
